Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: Renowned Odia music composer Abhijit Majumdar, widely admired for his contribution to the Odia film and music industry, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in the CDA area of Cuttack following serious health complications reported on Sunday.

Sources said Majumdar has been under medical treatment for liver-related ailments for the past several days. His condition reportedly worsened after a sharp deficiency of sodium and potassium was detected in his body, leading to further health deterioration.

The situation aggravated during his performances at Ganesh Puja music programmes on August 27, where he is believed to have experienced additional strain. Following the sudden decline in his health, Majumdar was initially rushed to a private medical facility in Cuttack. However, as his condition remained critical, he was later shifted to the CDA-based hospital and admitted to the emergency ward for advanced treatment and constant monitoring.

Fans, colleagues, and members of the Odia film fraternity have expressed deep concern and are praying for his speedy recovery. Hospital authorities are yet to issue an official health bulletin.
