OAS officer Sarthak Mohapatra appears before police over cruelty allegations by wife

Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer Sarthak Saurabh Mohapatra appeared at the Bhubaneswar Women’s Police Station today following serious allegations made by his wife, Archana Dash, who had lodged a complaint against him two days earlier. Mohapatra, currently posted as Deputy General Manager (DGM) at the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), reportedly denied all charges during questioning.
Dash, who works as an Assistant Executive Engineer in the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, filed a detailed complaint at the Mahila Police Station, accusing her husband of cruelty, negligence, wilful abandonment, and mental harassment. She alleged that their marriage, arranged with the full consent of both families, quickly turned abusive.
The complaint further stated that Mohapatra’s family began mistreating her within months of the wedding. Most shockingly, Dash claimed that after the birth of their child, Mohapatra abandoned her and the newborn at the hospital, leaving her alone during the critical discharge process.
Following the registration of the case, the Women’s Police Station issued a notice to Mohapatra. An investigation is currently underway to verify the claims and determine further legal action.
