IMD issues yellow warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across Odisha till July 31

Bhubaneswar, July 29: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty surface winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph. The alert remains in effect until July 31, urging residents to take precautions and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during inclement weather.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are very likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Bolangir districts on July 30. The weather conditions are expected to intensify, affecting more regions the same day.
Districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds on July 30.
The yellow warning continues into July 31 for several of these districts, including Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, where the risk of thunderstorms and strong winds remains high.
While no major weather disturbances are expected beyond July 31, the IMD advises citizens, particularly farmers and travelers, to remain alert and stay updated with local weather advisories to ensure safety.
