Bhubaneswar, July 24: Two persons, including the boyfriend of a nursing student, have been arrested by Raighar police in connection with the alleged leak of the student’s private photos and videos on social media. The arrests come two days after the student attempted suicide and was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in critical condition. She is currently battling for her life, with doctors reporting multi-organ failure.

The arrested accused have been identified as Satyajit Sarkar and Uddharba Gadanayak. According to police, Satyajit, who had a one-sided love interest in the victim, leaked the intimate content online after she rejected his advances. The photos and videos were reportedly shared further by Uddharba Gadanayak, the victim's partner.

Investigations revealed that Satyajit had earlier assaulted the girl in a busy Jeypore marketplace, an incident that was informally settled without formal legal action. However, driven by rejection and anger, he allegedly circulated her private photos, prompting the victim to attempt suicide.

Police tracked Satyajit using mobile surveillance and arrested him from a moving bus in Daspalla, while Uddharba was detained from Jeypore. A fresh complaint lodged by the victim’s family led to the arrests. The case remains under investigation.
