No-confidence move will backfire on opposition: Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari

Bhubaneswar, July 24: Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari has strongly countered the opposition's push for a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led state government, warning that such a move would ultimately backfire. Responding to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Das’ appeal to bring a no-confidence motion in the Assembly, Pujari said the government is fully confident of its performance and prepared to face any political challenge.
He emphasized that while the opposition has every democratic right to bring such a motion, they must come prepared with facts and arguments. “They should do their homework first,” Pujari remarked. He further challenged both the Congress and BJD to present a report card of their 40 years of governance. “We will show what we have done in just one year. Let the people compare and judge,” he asserted.
Pujari questioned the opposition’s readiness to take on the government in a meaningful debate, suggesting they lacked both substance and strategy. He described the proposed motion as a political misstep, stating, “This move will prove to be a boomerang.” His remarks came a day after Bhakta Das invited BJD to initiate the motion, promising Congress support.
