Two teachers detained for alleged harassment of ninth-grade student in Balasore

Bhubaneswar, July 21: Police in Balasore district have detained two teachers, including the headmaster, from PN High School in Chamar Gaon, Raibania, following allegations of misbehavior and harassment of a ninth-grade girl student. The individuals taken into custody are Kailash Chandra Beja, the math teacher, and Bhavani Shankar Pal, the headmaster of the institution.
Beja is accused of repeatedly subjecting the minor student to obscene gestures and harassment over a period of three months. Reports indicate he also threatened to fail her in examinations if she did not comply with his demands. The distressed student, fearing academic repercussions, initially kept silent about the ordeal.
However, approximately eight days ago, she bravely confided in Headmaster Bhavani Shankar Pal, seeking his intervention and protection. Shockingly, Pal reportedly failed to take any action on her complaint, leaving the student feeling helpless and unwilling to return to school.
Suffering from severe mental distress due to the continued harassment and the headmaster's inaction, the student eventually disclosed the entire ordeal to her mother.
