Soumyashree’s Father appeals: “Don’t politicise my daughter’s death, I trust the system”

Bhubaneswar, July 15: The heartbroken father of Soumyashree Bisi, the 20-year-old B.Ed student from Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College in Balasore who died on Monday night following severe burn injuries, has made an emotional appeal to the public and political parties not to politicise his daughter’s tragic death.
Speaking to reporters with a choked voice, he said, “Chief Minister Sir has assured me that strict and uncompromising action will be taken against all those responsible. I trust the law, the administration, and the government. If I don’t believe in the system, what is left?”
He expressed gratitude for the medical care provided during her treatment, acknowledging the government’s efforts. “They ensured my daughter received the best possible treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The doctors and staff were supportive. I am truly thankful.”
Holding back tears, he added, “My daughter is gone. I request everyone with folded hands—please don’t use her death for politics. Some of our demands have been met, and we’ve been assured of action on the rest.”
Soumyashree had reportedly set herself ablaze on July 12, accusing her department head of sexual harassment. Despite critical care, she succumbed to her injuries two days later.
