Man critically injured after falling from second floor of Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Balangir

Bhubaneswar, July 14: A man sustained critical injuries after falling from the second floor of Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir district on Monday, triggering concern among onlookers and hospital staff.
The injured person has been identified as Purnachandra Sahoo, a resident of Kharasalpada in Balangir town. According to sources, Sahoo had come to the hospital for a routine doctor’s consultation. While moving around the premises, he allegedly slipped and accidentally fell from the second floor of the hospital building.
The fall caused severe injuries, including trauma to the head and body. Hospital staff and attendants nearby rushed to his aid immediately after the incident. He was quickly admitted to the emergency ward of the same hospital and is currently undergoing treatment under close medical supervision.
Doctors attending to him have stated that his condition remains critical and that further tests and scans are being conducted to assess internal injuries. The hospital authorities have launched an internal inquiry to understand the circumstances that led to the fall, while security and safety arrangements within the hospital premises are also being reviewed.
