IMD predicts heavy rain and thunderstorms in Odisha till July 17

Bhubaneswar, July 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted continued heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across various parts of Odisha until July 17. Several districts have been placed under yellow alert for the coming days due to anticipated adverse weather conditions.
From July 11 to 12, heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are expected in Nuapada, Sundargarh, and Mayurbhanj. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may affect Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Cuttack.
Between July 12 and 13, similar weather conditions are likely to impact Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Nabarangapur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, and Koraput, all of which have received yellow warnings.
From July 13 to 14, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur. Meanwhile, thunderstorm activity with gusty winds may occur in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
On July 14 and 15, heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity are very likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh. Thunderstorms with gusty winds may also affect Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal. The IMD has advised citizens to remain cautious and take necessary precautions during this period.
