Odisha Vigilance arrests senior official for amassing disproportionate assets worth crores

Bhubaneswar, July 1: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Dayanidhi Bagh, Joint Director of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development, Bhubaneswar, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Acting on credible intelligence, Vigilance teams carried out simultaneous raids at eight locations linked to Bagh across Bhubaneswar, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur districts on June 30, 2025. The searches unearthed a staggering amount of unaccounted wealth. Among the recovered assets were two residential buildings, a three-bedroom flat, 84 acres of land with two farmhouses, 312 grams of gold jewelry, and bank deposits exceeding ₹58 lakh. Officials also seized a Brezza car registered under a benami name.
Following the raids, a case was registered by the Koraput Vigilance Division. Bagh was formally arrested and will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge (Vigilance) in Bhawanipatna.
The Vigilance Department has launched a detailed investigation into the source of the assets and possible involvement of other individuals. The case has drawn public attention, highlighting ongoing efforts by the Odisha government to crack down on corruption within the administrative system.
