Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar likely to visit Puri for Rath Yatra; tight security in place

Bhubaneswar, June 26: Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar is expected to visit Puri on Friday to witness the world-renowned Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, which attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad. While official confirmation of his visit is awaited, sources suggest that the Vice President may take part in the celebrations and offer prayers (darshan) to the deities atop their grand chariots.
In preparation for this mega spiritual event, the Puri district administration has ramped up security and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe experience for devotees. A total of 275 AI-powered CCTV cameras have been installed across the city to provide real-time monitoring and quick detection of any security issues.
Additionally, more than 10,000 police personnel, including Quick Response Teams, will be on duty to manage crowds and maintain law and order. The Indian Coast Guard has also been deployed to secure the coastal areas, ensuring no threats emerge from the sea. These multi-layered measures underscore the government’s commitment to the safety and sanctity of this iconic festival.
