IndiGo suspends Bhubaneswar–Abu Dhabi flights amid escalating Middle East tensions

Bhubaneswar, June 24: IndiGo Airlines has temporarily suspended its direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi in response to the escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Flights 6E 1442 (Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi) and 6E 1441 (Abu Dhabi to Bhubaneswar) have been halted as a precautionary safety measure.
The suspension comes amid growing instability in the region, particularly due to rising tensions between Iran and Israel and reports of U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Citing safety concerns, IndiGo announced the decision through its official Twitter handle and assured passengers that services will resume once secure air corridors are re-established.
“In view of the evolving situation in the Middle East, our flight operations to and from multiple cities including Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Madinah, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Sharjah, Riyadh, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Tbilisi have been suspended at least until 1000 hrs today,” the airline stated. “We regret the inconvenience caused and assure you this is a proactive safety measure.”
Notably, the Bhubaneswar–Abu Dhabi route was recently inaugurated on June 12, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi flagging off the maiden flight at Biju Patnaik International Airport.
