Commissionerate Police issues traffic advisory ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Bhubaneswar on June 20

Bhubaneswar, June 19: In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Bhubaneswar on Friday, June 20, the Commissionerate Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to manage expected congestion and ensure public safety. PM Modi will participate in a public programme at Janata Maidan and lead a roadshow from Biju Patnaik International Airport to the event venue.
Traffic is expected to be severely affected between 3 PM and 6 PM—or until the event concludes—along key routes, including Airport Square, Capital Hospital Square, AG Square, Raj Bhawan Square, Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Shastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, XIMB Square, and NALCO Square. Commuters are advised to avoid these areas during the specified hours.
To regulate crowd movement, buses from Cuttack (NH-16) will be diverted via Rasulgarh service road → Vani Vihar → Acharya Vihar → Apollo Hospital → Sainik School.
Designated travel and parking routes include:
From Khurda (NH-16): Jaydev Vihar → NALCO Square → Kalinga Hospital Road; parking from Railway Colony Golei to Hatiasuni Chhak.
From Nandankanan: Use NALCO Square → Kalinga Hospital Road.
From Puri: Kalpana Square → Raj Mahal → Sishu Bhawan → Capital Hospital Square; parking from Sishu Bhawan to Capital Hospital.
Multiple parking areas are assigned across Bhubaneswar including: Airport Golei to Pani Tanki, Meteorological Ground, Shastrinagar to Engineering School, Behera Sahi to Nicco Park, Swadhinata Sangrami Ground, Kalinga Stadium, Salia Sahi Jatra Padia, and JK Paper Lane to Shyama Dham (VIP parking). A special area near NISER has been reserved for media vehicles.
To reduce congestion, goods carriers (six-wheelers and above) will be diverted:
From Khurda to Cuttack: Rerouted via Pitapalli → Chandaka Square.
From Cuttack to Khurda: Diverted via Balikuda → Trishulia Square → Pitapalli.
Emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire services will be exempt from these restrictions.
