Four arrested in brutal attack on journalist in Bolangir, mastermind still at large

Bhubaneswar, May 26: In a disturbing case that has sparked widespread outrage, four individuals have been arrested for their involvement in the brutal assault on journalist Bijay Pradhan in Kulthipali village under the Puintala police station limits of Bolangir district.
The arrested accused have been identified as Gumar Nayak, Aditya Jena, Abinas Dalai, and Sidhhant Nayak. “If any additional individuals are found involved, they will be apprehended soon. Strict legal action will be taken against all the accused,” stated Himanshu Kumar Lal, IG (Northern Range), in a statement to Ommcom News.
However, the prime accused and alleged mastermind, local contractor Jagendra Dalei, is still on the run. His role in orchestrating the attack is currently under investigation.
According to reports, Pradhan was covering a local construction project when he was tied up and assaulted by a group of youths. The shocking incident was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, prompting widespread condemnation.
The journalist filed a complaint naming the contractor and his associates. The incident has raised serious concerns about journalist safety and transparency in public works projects. The investigation remains ongoing.
