Speeding SUV crashes in Subarnapur; firearm found in wreckage

Bhubaneswar, May 26: In a dramatic late-night accident near Ulunda police station in Odisha’s Subarnapur district, a speeding Fortuner car en route to Sambalpur from Subarnapur lost control, hit an electric pole, and overturned. The impact of the crash was so severe that the electric pole snapped, and the vehicle was extensively damaged.
Three people, including a minor, were trapped inside the mangled SUV and had to be rescued by the fire brigade. All three were immediately rushed to the Subarnapur District Hospital for treatment. One of the injured, whose condition was critical, was later shifted to Burla VIMSAR for advanced medical care.
The incident took an unexpected turn when police discovered a country-made gun and live ammunition inside the wrecked car during the investigation. The revelation has prompted serious concerns, and police have launched a detailed probe into the presence of the firearm.
The injured individuals have been identified as residents of Sambalpur city. Authorities are currently verifying the ownership of the weapon and investigating its intended use. The case is under active investigation to uncover all underlying details.
