House of key accused in Sahadeva Nayak murder demolished by BMC

Bhubaneswar, May 23: In a stern move against crime, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday demolished the house of Rama Nayak, the prime accused in the brutal murder of ‘Police Mitra’ and sanitation workers’ leader Sahadeva Nayak. The demolition took place in the Kedarpalli slum area of Bhubaneswar and was carried out under heavy police presence using JCB machinery.
According to officials, the action is part of a broader crackdown by BMC and Commissionerate Police on individuals involved in heinous crimes. The demolished structure belonged to Rama Nayak, who has been identified as the main conspirator in the gruesome murder that shocked the city earlier this year.
Sahadeva Nayak, president of the BMC Sanitation Employees’ Association and a resident of Kedarpalli Basti, was brutally murdered in January 2025. He was attacked with a sword on the Rasulgarh overbridge, and his head was severed in the horrifying incident.
In response, authorities have taken strict disciplinary action, including the demolition of homes belonging to all individuals allegedly involved in the crime. The move aims to send a strong message against violence and ensure justice for the victim and his family.
