Bhubaneswar, May 22: The Odisha government has appointed retired IAS officer Sudhakar Burgi as the new Chairman of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). Burgi, who currently serves as a member of the OSSC, will assume the role in addition to his existing responsibilities.

The appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of former Chairman Abhay. In an official notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, the state government confirmed that Abhay’s resignation, dated May 19, 2025, has been formally accepted with immediate effect.

“After careful consideration of the representation dated 19.05.2025 of Shri Abhay, Government have been pleased to accept the resignation of Shri Abhay, Chairman, Odisha Staff Selection Commission with immediate effect,” the notification stated.

A subsequent order announced that Sudhakar Burgi will take charge as Chairman until further notice. Burgi, known for his administrative experience, is expected to ensure continuity in the commission's operations while also fulfilling his regular duties as a member of the OSSC.
