Bhubaneswar's Unit I daily market traders announce 4-day closure in demand protest
Bhubaneswar, Sep 30: To voice their grievances and press for their demands, traders at Unit I's daily market in Bhubaneswar are planning to close their shops for four consecutive days starting this Saturday.
The Rajdhani Daily Market Traders' Association has taken this decision in response to the continued lack of fulfillment of their demands.
The association has been persistent in seeking improvements such as a proper parking facility, an efficient drainage system, and the removal of illegal encroachments within the market premises.
In a statement released on Friday, the association conveyed their concerns, saying, "We have long been advocating for sufficient parking space to accommodate both consumers' and traders' vehicles. The absence of adequate parking facilities has posed daily challenges. Unfortunately, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has remained unresponsive to our appeals."
Additionally, permanent traders in the market have expressed discontent regarding the growing presence of street vendors and makeshift stalls, further complicating their concerns.
