Major setback for Maoists: Two hideouts busted in Bolangir district

Bhubaneswar, May 16: In a significant breakthrough, a joint operation by the Odisha Police, District Voluntary Force (DVF), and the Special Operations Group (SOG) successfully dismantled two Maoist hideouts in the Khaprakhol and Tureikela police station areas of Bolangir district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about Maoist activity in the Gandhamardan Hills and Chhatradandi forest, the security forces launched a combing operation in the area. During the raid, they seized a large cache of Maoist materials, including opium, Maoist flags, tents, clothes, books, radios, furniture, electric wires, and other items. Notably, an improvised explosive device (IED) was also recovered and safely detonated by the jawans.
Bolangir SP Abhilash G confirmed that the operation dealt a serious blow to Maoist operations in the region. “The action has successfully disrupted Maoist activities, weakening their network,” he stated.
IG Himanshu Lal added that a coordinated strategy involving SPs from Bolangir, Bargarh, and other affected districts is in place. Regular review meetings with the DGP are helping in chalking out plans to completely eliminate Maoist influence from the state.
