Man allegedly poisons two children before consuming it himself; all three die in Gajapati tragedy

Bhubaneswar, May 15: In a heartbreaking incident in Gajapati district, a man allegedly poisoned his two minor children before consuming it himself. The man, identified as Subhashis Panigrahi of Paralasahi, died while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
According to reports, Subhashis first administered poison to his eight-year-old son, Bijayananda, and his 11-year-old daughter, Priyadarshini, before consuming it himself. The trio was initially rushed to the Paralakhemundi Hospital in critical condition. Tragically, Bijayananda was declared dead upon arrival. As the condition of Subhashis and Priyadarshini worsened, they were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where both succumbed during treatment on Thursday.
The tragic incident has shocked the local community. Notably, this comes just two months after the children’s mother passed away under mysterious circumstances, raising suspicions of ongoing family turmoil. Police suspect domestic disputes may have driven Subhashis to take this extreme step.
Paralakhemundi police have seized the bodies for post-mortem and launched an investigation to determine the exact motive and circumstances behind the tragedy. Further inquiries are underway to uncover the full story behind the devastating loss.
