Tension at Bhubaneswar Airport over suspicious bag ends without incident

Bhubaneswar, May 9: A brief spell of tension gripped the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar after a suspicious, unclaimed bag was found in the terminal premises on Thursday. The incident triggered a swift and coordinated response from airport security authorities, who immediately treated the situation with utmost seriousness.
According to sources, the airport staff quickly alerted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which took control of the situation. The area surrounding the bag was promptly cordoned off, and nearby passengers were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The bomb disposal squad, along with a trained dog squad, was deployed to thoroughly examine the unclaimed luggage using advanced scanning equipment and sniffer dogs.
Following a detailed investigation, no explosives or hazardous materials were found inside the bag. The situation was eventually defused when a female passenger, who had flown in from Hyderabad, returned to claim the bag. She explained that she had mistakenly left it behind. The bag was found to contain harmless items such as diapers and a mobile charger. After verifying her identity and travel details, security allowed her relative to collect the bag. Airport operations resumed smoothly thereafter.
