Odisha CM thanks PM Modi as Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi direct flights set to begin in June

Bhubaneswar, May 8: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching a major aviation initiative to enhance international connectivity.
Starting June 2025, Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) will have direct flights to Abu Dhabi under the Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network (B-MAAN) initiative. This development comes as part of the Centre’s forward-looking New Destination Policy aimed at opening new international routes.
Sharing the update from the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Chief Minister’s Office, the Odisha government hailed the move as a milestone in placing the state prominently on the global map. The direct flight is expected to boost tourism, global trade, and international cooperation in line with the vision of a “Viksit Odisha.”
“From Temple City to Global Gateway! Thanks to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi for steering this landmark aviation push... A major stride toward connecting #Odisha with the world,” read the post.
The Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi route will be operated by IndiGo three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The exact launch date will be announced shortly.
This marks a significant step in Odisha’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its global ties and transform into a hub for international business and cultural exchange.
