Bhubaneswar, May 6: At least 20 passengers sustained injuries when a private bus overturned near the Nuniajodi bridge on the outskirts of Balasore city in the early hours of Tuesday. The bus was en route to Balasore from Bhogarai when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and overturn.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around dawn, jolting passengers out of their sleep and triggering panic. Local residents quickly responded, alerting authorities and helping with the initial rescue efforts.

Soon after the incident, local police and emergency response teams arrived at the spot to carry out rescue operations and ensure the safe evacuation of all passengers. As of the latest update, 20 people have been reported injured, with several sustaining moderate to serious injuries. They were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding or a mechanical failure may have contributed to the mishap.
