Odisha Vigilance seizes crores worth of assets from Koraput CDPO arrested in bribery case

Bhubaneswar, May 3: In a major crackdown, the Odisha Vigilance Department has unearthed assets worth crores belonging to Sakuntala Das, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Dashmantpur block in Koraput district. Das was arrested on May 2, 2025, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from a newly appointed Anganwadi Helper.
Acting swiftly after her arrest, Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous raids at three locations associated with Das and one linked to an Anganwadi worker, Khosla. During the searches, officials uncovered massive wealth allegedly disproportionate to Das’s known sources of income.
The seized assets include a triple-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar’s Kaibalya Nagar (3300 sqft), a double-storeyed house in Similiguida, Koraput (2200 sqft), and an under-construction building in Bharatipur, Puri (2000 sqft). Authorities also found a homestead plot in Similiguida, ₹47,000 in cash, fixed deposits worth ₹22.10 lakh, and a Mahindra XUV 500. Nine bank accounts belonging to Das and her spouse are under scrutiny.
The investigation is ongoing, and further revelations are anticipated as Vigilance continues to probe the case.
