Heightened security in Balasore: Police tighten vigil at 10 key locations after Pahalgam terror attack

Bhubaneswar, May 1: Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Balasore police have intensified security measures across 10 sensitive locations in the district to ensure public safety and prevent any potential threats.
Acting on an alert from the Intelligence Department, the district police have deployed additional forces and established stringent checkpoints at strategic points, particularly along key roads and border areas.
The focus is on locations along National Highway 60, especially near Laxmannath and Bhograi—regions close to the West Bengal border. These areas are under close surveillance due to their vulnerability to illicit cross-border movements.
Vehicles heading towards West Bengal are undergoing rigorous checks. Police have made it mandatory for all vehicles passing through the designated areas to undergo thorough inspections. Random checks are also being conducted across the 10 marked zones.
Special attention is being given to suspicious individuals and movements, particularly at the Udaipur border and coastal belts. To strengthen maritime security, marine police have been deployed in coastal areas. Marine police stations at Kasafal and Talsari are actively patrolling the waterways to counter any threats via sea routes.
