Excise Superintendent arrested by Odisha Vigilance with ₹3 lakh unaccounted cash; assets worth crores unearthed

Bhubaneswar, April 30: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance today arrested Krishna Nayak, Superintendent of Excise, Dhenkanal, for possessing unaccounted cash and disproportionate assets. She was intercepted near Deulasahi Road in Dhenkanal on Monday while carrying ₹3 lakh in unaccounted cash. Following the seizure, she was formally arrested and will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal.
The interception led to simultaneous raids at five different locations linked to Nayak. Preliminary findings revealed that she owned two multi-storeyed buildings in Cuttack and Puri, eight high-value land plots, and two benami cars (currently under verification). Additionally, her bank and other deposits are estimated to exceed ₹20 lakh.
Based on the findings, a case has been registered under Cell Division PS Case No. 4/2025 under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Odisha Vigilance officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further details, including the source of the wealth and possible involvement of others, are being examined.
