Poacher arrested, forest guard injured in scuffle at Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary

Bhubaneswar, April 28: In a major anti-poaching operation, forest officials apprehended a poacher following a fierce scuffle inside Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district, Odisha, on Sunday night. The arrested individual has been identified as Madha Singh of Jampada area, while his uncle, also involved in the poaching activity, managed to escape during the commotion.
According to reports, a four-member team comprising Forest Guards and members of the Green Force had been tracking the poachers since 3 PM after receiving a credible tip-off. The confrontation took place late at night in the Gudikhania area under the Santaragadia Forest Beat, where the poachers, armed with guns, launched a surprise attack on the team.
Despite the sudden assault, the forest personnel managed to overpower one of the poachers. During the operation, they seized a gun, ammunition, a torch, a knife, and two bags containing hunting tools. However, one forest guard sustained serious injuries in the scuffle and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Further investigation is ongoing to trace the absconding poacher and dismantle the poaching network.
