Two youths die of suffocation while cleaning well in Rayagada

Bhubaneswar, April 23: In a tragic incident, two young men lost their lives due to suffocation while cleaning a well in Bandri village under the jurisdiction of Chandrapur police station in Rayagada district on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Tete Tangaranga (25) and Chittaranjan Tangaranga (28), both residents of the same village.
According to reports, the two were engaged in cleaning a deep village well when they suddenly lost consciousness, likely due to the presence of toxic gases or a lack of oxygen inside the confined space. Locals, who noticed the distressing scene, immediately alerted the Chandrapur fire brigade for help.
Acting swiftly, fire personnel arrived at the site and pulled the youths out of the well. They were rushed to the Chandrapur Community Health Centre (CHC), but doctors at the hospital declared both of them brought dead.
The Chandrapur police later reached the location and initiated a formal investigation into the cause of the incident. The sudden deaths have cast a pall of gloom over Bandri village, as the community mourns the untimely loss of two of its young members.
