Bhubaneswar, April 22: In a significant bureaucratic development, senior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer Deba Prasad Dash has been promoted to the rank of Special Secretary and entrusted with the additional charge of Director, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
The position of Director, I&PR, had remained vacant since Saroj Samal’s retirement on February 28, 2025. With Dash’s appointment, the critical role overseeing government communication and media outreach will now be actively managed.
Dash, who has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, will continue to work in the same department as Special Secretary, marking a recognition of his dedication and administrative capabilities.
The General Administration & Public Grievance Department issued the official notification on Tuesday, confirming the promotion and appointment. Dash’s elevation is seen as a reward for his consistent service and contributions to cultural and language initiatives in Odisha.
With a reputation for efficient leadership, Dash has held several key posts in the state government. His additional charge as Director of I&PR reflects the state government’s confidence in his ability to lead Odisha’s public communication strategies with clarity, responsibility, and integrity.
