Suspicious death of nurse in Balangir: Husband arrested after allegations of murder

Bhubaneswar, April 19: In a shocking incident, the body of a woman, Krishna Sahu, was recovered under suspicious circumstances from her in-laws’ residence in Nehenabandh village under Patnagarh police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday. Following serious allegations of murder by her family, police have arrested her husband, Alok Sahu.
Krishna, originally from Semelmunda village under Gaisilet police limits in Bargarh district, had been married to Alok for three years. The couple shared a one-year-old child, but their relationship was reportedly troubled by frequent disputes.
On Friday, Krishna was found hanging at her matrimonial home. While the initial suspicion pointed towards suicide, her maternal family alleged foul play. They claimed she was subjected to regular physical abuse by her husband, allegedly provoked by her mother-in-law.
In a crucial development, Krishna—who worked as a staff nurse at Padmapur Sub-Divisional Hospital—had sent a video to her father earlier that day, reportedly showing her husband assaulting her.
Police, accompanied by a scientific team and magistrate, conducted a detailed investigation. Based on her father’s complaint, a case was registered and Alok Sahu was arrested for further interrogation.
