Bhubaneswar, April 17: In a tragic incident, a couple was found hanging from a tree near the roadside at Goudapatna village under Jankia police station limits in Khordha district on Thursday morning. The deceased have been identified as Ajay Pradhan (43) and Shanti Sahu, both residents of Rajsunakhala.

Local villagers spotted the bodies hanging from a tree early in the morning and immediately alerted the police. A scooter believed to belong to the couple was found parked a short distance away from the spot, suggesting that they may have traveled there together before allegedly taking the extreme step.

Sources indicated that initial evidence points toward a case of suicide, although the exact reason behind the incident remains unclear. Police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for postmortem examination.

The Jankia police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances leading to their deaths, including checking for any signs of foul play or distress. Family members and acquaintances are also being questioned for more insights into the incident.
