IMD issues thunderstorm, rainfall, and gusty wind alert for Odisha from April 15 to 18

Bhubaneswar, April 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a spell of unstable weather in Odisha, with thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds likely to affect several districts between April 15 and 18. The IMD has also issued yellow warnings for many of the affected regions.
According to the IMD bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds of 40-50 kmph are expected during the afternoon and evening hours throughout the forecast period.
On April 15, districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar are likely to experience these conditions.
The alert for April 16 extends to include Angul, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, and Boudh along with the previously mentioned districts.
By April 17, areas like Sonepur, Nuapada, and Balangir join the list under threat of thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning.
Residents are advised to stay indoors during stormy hours and take precautions against lightning and wind damage.
