Bhubaneswar, April 11: At least 30 passengers were injured in a tragic road accident that occurred near Chhatabar Square on the Athagarh-Munduli Road on Friday. The mishap took place when a bus carrying beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana collided head-on with a speeding truck.

The passengers were en route to Cuttack to attend the official launch of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), a flagship health insurance scheme aimed at providing financial protection for medical treatment.

Eyewitnesses stated that the impact of the collision was severe, causing the bus to veer off the road. The injured were quickly rescued and rushed to the nearby Athagarh Hospital for immediate medical attention. Among the 30 injured, the condition of 10 passengers is reported to be critical.

Medical teams have been mobilized to provide the necessary treatment, and arrangements are being made to shift the critically injured to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and have assured all necessary support to the victims.
