Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY officially launched in Odisha, benefitting over 3.5 crore people

Bhubaneswar, April 11: In a landmark moment for Odisha’s healthcare sector, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) was formally launched in the state today. The grand launch ceremony was held at the Baliyatra field in Cuttack, where Union Health Minister JP Nadda inaugurated the scheme by pressing a remote button, symbolizing the official rollout.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Sundargarh MP and Union Minister Jual Oram, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, along with other cabinet ministers.
Speaking at the event, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling described the day as a historic milestone, one that would be etched in golden letters. He stated that over 40 lakh people across the state witnessed the launch through various platforms.
The scheme aims to provide free healthcare to 3.5 crore people in Odisha, enabling beneficiaries to access medical treatment across India—from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The Minister also criticized the previous government for deliberately stalling the scheme and misusing central funds meant for it. He extended gratitude to JP Nadda for his support.
