Newborn allegedly sold by mother rescued in Titlagarh, probe underway

Bhubaneswar, April 10: In a swift and coordinated operation, a newborn baby boy was rescued in Titlagarh after being allegedly sold by his mother. The rescue was carried out by the police, along with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the District Child Protection Unit.
According to official sources, the baby was born on April 6 at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir and was discharged on April 8. Shockingly, instead of returning home with his mother, the infant was handed over to a woman from Titlagarh who claimed to be a mediator in the adoption process.
After receiving credible information and a complaint, the CWC and protection officials, under the direction of Additional District Magistrate Pabitra Behera, launched an investigation. The baby was traced to the Titlagarh residence of the woman and was immediately rescued.
The infant has now been safely handed over to the Child Welfare Committee. Authorities are currently questioning the woman and the baby’s mother to uncover the circumstances behind the suspected illegal sale. Further investigation is underway.
