Woman constable found dead in Balasore barrack, suspected suicide under investigation

Bhubaneswar, April 8: In a tragic incident, a woman constable allegedly died by suicide at a reserve police barrack in Balasore district on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Jashoda Das, a resident of Mandarpur under the jurisdiction of Remuna police station.
According to sources, Jashoda was found hanging inside the barrack by fellow personnel. After receiving an alert, police officials reached the spot immediately and recovered her body. She was rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that Jashoda may have been struggling with personal issues. Her brother revealed that she had been in a long-term relationship with a youth from the Sora area, who is reportedly serving in the Indian Army. Emotional distress linked to the relationship is suspected to be a contributing factor.
Balasore SP Raj Prasad confirmed that an investigation is underway. "She was mentally disturbed, as per her recent behavior.
