Man attacks family over property dispute in Dhenkanal, three critically injured

Bhubaneswar, April 7: In a shocking incident in Talabarakota village under Govindpur outpost in Dhenkanal district, a man allegedly opened fire on his family members over a property dispute. The accused, identified as Mayadhar Behera, reportedly shot his wife Kaikei Behera, son Bana Behera, and sister-in-law Subhadra Behera with a country-made pistol during a heated altercation.
Not stopping there, Mayadhar is said to have further assaulted the trio with a sharp weapon, leaving them critically injured. Local residents, alarmed by the commotion, rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. They were immediately taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dhenkanal. As their condition worsened, all three were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment.
Following the incident, police from the Govindpur outpost arrived at the scene and took Mayadhar Behera into custody. The police seized the country-made firearm and the weapon used in the attack. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the full details of the dispute.
