Odisha leaders across political spectrum mourn passing of iconic actor Manoj Kumar

Bhubaneswar, April 4: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, have expressed deep sorrow over the demise of legendary Bollywood actor and director Manoj Kumar. They hailed his monumental contributions to Indian cinema and his powerful portrayal of patriotism that earned him the title ‘Bharat Kumar’.
Political leaders from all parties united in paying rich tributes, offering heartfelt condolences to Kumar’s family, admirers, and the Indian film fraternity. They acknowledged his unparalleled cinematic legacy and his enduring impact on the cultural fabric of the nation.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, in a post on X, wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary actor & director #ManojKumar. His contributions to Indian cinema, especially in inspiring patriotism, will always be cherished by his fans as ‘Bharat Kumar’. My heartfelt condolences to his family & fans. May his soul rest in peace.”
Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo remembered Kumar’s timeless films such as Shaheed, Upkar, and Purab Aur Paschim, writing, “He dedicated his art to evoking patriotism and national pride... Honoured with the Padma Shri and Dadasaheb Phalke Award, he leaves behind an indelible mark on our cinematic legacy.”
Deputy CM Pravati Parida also took to social media, stating, “Deeply saddened by the passing of #ManojKumar, a legendary actor & director. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends & fans. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations.”
