Bhubaneswar, April 2: In a shocking incident, two youths sustained critical injuries after being attacked with a sword by miscreants in broad daylight at Chari Chhak of Patrapada under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. The attack has sparked fear among locals, raising concerns over law and order in the capital city.

According to reports, the attack stemmed from a previous enmity. The assailants chased the victims before launching a brutal assault with a sword. Initial investigations revealed that the miscreants attacked them over a dispute related to passing lewd comments.

The victims were immediately rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical treatment, and their identities are yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation and are on the lookout for the attackers.

This incident comes just days after a similar sword attack was reported on March 30 near SUM Hospital under Bharatpur police limits. In that case, a youth was chased and assaulted in a film-style attack, suffering serious injuries to his leg and hand before collapsing on the road.
