Odisha expands higher secondary education in Adarsha Vidyalayas

Bhubaneswar, March 22: In a major boost to education in Odisha, more than 400 Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) have introduced classes XI and XII, marking a significant expansion in the state’s schooling system. This initiative aims to provide quality higher secondary education to students, particularly in rural and remote areas.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond shared this update in the state assembly on Friday. Responding to a query from Balikuda MLA Sarada Prasanna Jena, the Minister revealed that class XI has already been introduced in 214 OAVs, while class XII is now operational in 190 schools across the state.
The state government is committed to further strengthening the OAV network, ensuring that all schools gradually introduce higher secondary classes. “The government has outlined plans to roll out classes XI and XII in all remaining OAVs in a phased manner,” the Minister stated. This initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students by enhancing access to quality education and reducing dropout rates after class X.
