Justice Harish Tandon appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court

Bhubaneswar, March 21: Justice Harish Tandon has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, as per an official notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice (Appointments Division) today.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Harish Tandon, Judge of the Calcutta High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, with effect from the date he assumes office,” the notification stated.
Currently serving as a senior puisne judge at the Calcutta High Court, Justice Tandon’s elevation was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on March 6, 2025. His appointment follows the retirement of former Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on January 19, 2025.
Born in West Bengal, Justice Harish Tandon was appointed as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on April 13, 2010. With over 14 years of judicial experience, he ranks seventh in the All-India Seniority of High Court Judges. His tenure in Orissa High Court is expected to bring judicial reforms and strengthen the administration of justice.
