Former Union Minister Dr. Debendra Pradhan cremated at Puri’s Swargadwar

Bhubaneswar, March 18: The mortal remains of Dr. Debendra Pradhan, a veteran politician and former Union Minister, were cremated at Puri’s Swargadwar today with full state honors. The 84-year-old leader passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service.
His body was brought to Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar on Monday and later taken to the BJP state party office before being transported to his residence. Several political leaders across party lines gathered to pay their final respects. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik, and BJP leader Sambit Patra were among those who paid tribute. Additionally, yoga guru Ramdev Baba attended the funeral to honor the late leader.
Before cremation, Dr. Pradhan was accorded a guard of honor at the Swargadwar crematorium.
Born on July 16, 1941, to Maheswar Pradhan and Chandrama Debi, he completed his MBBS from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, in 1966. He served as an Assistant Medical Officer in Talcher before moving into private practice. In 1980, he joined the BJP, eventually becoming an MP from Deogarh in 1998, marking his significant political career.
