Elephant near AIIMS Bhubaneswar to be tranquilised; 30 officials deployed for monitoring

Bhubaneswar, March 11: A wild elephant that strayed into human habitation near AIIMS Bhubaneswar will be tranquilized and relocated to a safer area, informed Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Satpathy. The tusker, which reportedly wandered into the city from Barunei Hills near Khordha, has been under constant surveillance by a team of 30 forest officials.
Authorities have been tracking the elephant’s movements, particularly as it roamed around a cashew garden near AIIMS Bhubaneswar. To prevent panic and ensure public safety, forest officials have been using microphones to alert residents about the elephant’s whereabouts.
The forest department has deployed a specialized team to carry out the tranquilization process safely. Officials believe that the elephant might naturally retrace its path to the jungle by evening. However, if it remains within the city limits, tranquilization and relocation will be carried out as a precautionary measure. The situation remains under control, with officials closely monitoring the tusker’s behavior to avoid any untoward incidents.
