Rape accused out on bail killed by victim and her husband in Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar, March 3: A man accused of rape, who was out on bail, was allegedly killed by the rape survivor and her husband in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. The couple was taken into police custody on Sunday.
The deceased, Raj Kumar Yadav (28), a native of Bihar, was shot with an arrow, and his body was dumped in a nullah.
According to reports, Yadav, the woman, and her husband lived in Teliposh village under Birmitrapur police limits. In January 2023, Yadav allegedly raped the woman when she was alone at home and continued to assault her over the next four months, threatening her into silence.
The victim finally informed her husband in May 2023, following which he lodged a police complaint. Yadav was arrested and sent to Rourkela Special Jail but was released on bail six months ago. After his release, he allegedly started threatening the couple to withdraw the case.
On Saturday evening, Yadav arrived at the couple’s house and began threatening the woman. She informed her husband, who returned home and, in a fit of rage, shot Yadav with an arrow, killing him instantly. The couple then dumped the body in a nearby nullah.
