Odisha mourns the loss of legendary actor Uttam Mohanty

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: The demise of veteran Odia actor Uttam Mohanty has left the state in deep sorrow, with prominent leaders and public figures expressing their condolences. Among those who paid tribute were Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, as well as Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik.
Speaker Surama Padhy, in her condolence message, described Mohanty's passing as an “irreparable loss to the Odia film industry.” She highlighted his immense contribution to cinema, noting that his talent spanned Odia, Bengali, and Hindi films, making him one of the most celebrated actors of his time. She also extended her sympathies to his grieving family.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo expressed his sorrow on social media, stating, “Uttam Mohanty’s contributions to Odia cinema will forever be remembered. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations.” Similarly, Deputy CM Pravati Parida lamented his passing, calling it a great loss to the industry and offering prayers for his soul.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also mourned the legendary actor, acknowledging his remarkable career and the lasting impression he left on the hearts of audiences.
