KIIT student death case: Accused taken on three-day police remand

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: The Infocity Police have intensified their investigation into the alleged suicide of KIIT student Prakriti Lamsal, taking the accused, Advik Srivastava, into three-day remand starting Thursday.
As per reports, the police had sought court permission on Wednesday to interrogate Advik, the alleged boyfriend of the deceased Nepalese student, to gather crucial details regarding the case. Following the court’s approval, he was taken into custody for further questioning. Investigators are expected to probe his involvement and interactions with Prakriti to establish the sequence of events leading to her tragic death.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi personally spoke with Nepali Counsellors Sanjeeb Das Sharma and Navin Raj Adhikari over the phone, assuring them of a fair and transparent investigation. He reaffirmed that justice will be served in the case and assured the Nepalese officials that peace and normalcy would be restored on the KIIT campus.
With tensions high, the case has gained significant attention, and authorities are under pressure to ensure a thorough and unbiased probe into the circumstances of Prakriti’s death.
