Three killed, nine injured in separate road accidents in Rayagada and Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar, Feb 7: Two separate road accidents in Odisha’s Rayagada and Sambalpur districts claimed three lives and left nine others injured on Friday. The incidents occurred at Gulmundapaka near Gunupur in Rayagada district and near Kulundi in Sambalpur district.
In Rayagada, three laborers lost their lives after a tractor carrying bricks lost balance and overturned on the main road at Gulmundapaka. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed. The tractor’s driver and three others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Gunupur Hospital for treatment. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, in Sambalpur, a newlywed couple and four others were injured in a head-on collision between their car and a truck on National Highway 53 near Kulundi. The couple, Sumit Modi and his bride, were traveling to Deogarh after their wedding in Sambalpur when the accident occurred.
The injured have been shifted to Sambalpur Hospital for medical care, while police have begun an inquiry into the mishap.
