Odisha government revises allowances for Fire & Emergency Services personnel

Bhubaneswar, Feb 4: The Odisha government on Tuesday announced a significant revision of various allowances for personnel of the Odisha Fire & Emergency Services across different ranks. According to a notification issued by the state government, these revisions had been under consideration for some time and were approved after careful review.
Under the revised structure, House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be provided to Firemen, Havildars, and equivalent ranks who reside in barracks and do not have official residential accommodation. The HRA will be determined based on their place of posting, similar to other state government employees, regardless of their actual deployment location.
The Special Diet Allowance for Firemen, Havildars, and equivalent ranks has been increased from ₹900 to ₹1,400 per month to support their nutritional requirements.
The Motorcycle/Mobility Allowance, previously granted only to Station Officers and Assistant Fire Officers, has been extended to Assistant Station Officers and equivalent ranks, with the amount raised from ₹300 to ₹1,050 per month. Additionally, the General Mobility Allowance for Firemen, Havildars, and equivalent ranks has been increased from ₹150 to ₹300 per month.
The Risk Allowance, which compensates personnel for the hazards associated with their duty, has been raised from ₹400 to ₹1,000 per month for ranks from Fireman up to Assistant Fire Officer.
