CBI raids Sambalpur University professor's residence in NAAC bribery case

Bhubaneswar, Feb 4: Officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid on Tuesday at the official residence of Professor Bulu Maharana, situated within the Sambalpur University premises, as part of their ongoing investigation into a bribery case linked to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rating.
A team of five CBI officials arrived at Prof. Maharana's government quarter early in the morning to carry out the investigation. This follows a previous visit on February 1, when the CBI sealed his residence after allegations surfaced regarding his involvement in accepting bribes to enhance the NAAC rating of an educational institution located in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
To date, the CBI has arrested ten individuals connected to this bribery case. During their searches, investigators uncovered significant evidence of illicit payments made to NAAC inspection team members, which included cash, gold, mobile phones, and laptops. The CBI has executed raids at approximately 20 locations across India, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather information and identify all parties involved in the scheme.
