Special flight from Bhubaneswar to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh begins
Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: In view of the massive rush for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela, the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar will commence a special weekly flight to Prayagraj starting this Wednesday. Currently, there are four weekly flights between Bhubaneswar and Prayagraj. With the addition of this service, the number of flights will increase to five per week.
BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan announced that the special flight, operated by Alliance Air, will use a 72-seater aircraft. He stated, “The government requested an additional flight to accommodate the Mahakumbh rush. After discussions with Alliance Air, we introduced this service on Wednesdays.”
While the current arrangement is meant to address the increased demand during the Mahakumbh Mela, the continuation of the special flight beyond the event will depend on passenger load, Pradhan added.
This new service aims to ensure better connectivity for pilgrims traveling to Prayagraj and highlights BPIA’s commitment to meeting passenger needs during significant events.
